Before the NFL season

You need to know....

How not to murder people.

The funniest Madden cover parodies ever.

NFL coaches couldn't make it as soccer coaches.

Aftermath

So once again Ol' Strange's prediction crashed in a fireball of ruin. In fact, since I have forecast Baltimore's infinite demise in every round since the playoffs began they are responsible for 4 of my erroneous guesstimates.

Well...on to better stuff. If you didn't see any of the Super Bowl commercials yesterday because, like me, you live in a country that sells advertising to local boring companies then here is a link to all the gold: 2013 Super Bowl commercials including the banned sodastream ad. Bonus: Will Ferrell's low- budget Old Milwaukee commercial that only ran in a few small markets.

Enjoy.

Super Bowl Sunday

The super "bowl" haircut.

The beer flavor wheel. You'll most definitely need that today.

Prediction:

With a playoff prediction record of 4 out of 10 I don't expect anyone to be waiting with baited breath for my guesstimate today. However, there are important factors to consider: 4 out of 10 would net me multi millions in baseball. 4 out of 10 would also be fairly impressive even with a wingman at your local pub/dance club/what-have-you.

With that said you can bank on an absolute today, a Harbaugh is going to win the Super Bowl...but I suppose you want specifics? SO, I predict Beyonce' will suck the life from an otherwise entertaining game even with a Destiny's Child reunion, Ray Lewis will retire...at last and a coin flip will take place where one team will elect to receive.

More specific?

Geesh!

San Fran 27 over Baltimore 24

What did he say?

Even though GIGC doesn't celebrate her birthday til Tuesday, I thought I'd post a little something to appease her football fix.

NFL Playoff picks

So Ol' Strange did a little better in his picks last weekend, but I'd hardly call an overall record of 3 for 8 stellar.

This weekend I plan on moving back to 500 with the following no-brainers- which will also apply if I'm wrong.

San Fran vs Atlanta -At this point as much as I respect the Falcon's home record and as much as my heart wants Tony G. to get a ring before he hangs 'em up, I can't ignore what the 49er's did to Green Bay last week. It really comes down to a mobile QB and Kapernick can run and surprise a lot of defenses. So I'm picking San Fran in a squeeker here. 49ers 31- Falcons 30.

Baltimore vs New England - At this point as much as I don't respect anything the Patriots (Tom Brady) do and as much as my heart would like to see Ray Lewis, (at this point) see the big show one last time before he hangs 'em up, I can't ignore all the N.E. weapons. It will really come down to the health of the Gronk and the perfection of Brady/Welker, but I don't see a problem here with another Patriots return *yawn* to the Super Bowl. Ravens 21- Partiots 38.

NFL picks for the weekend

Needless to say, last week's picks were a disaster and I hope no one put some serious cabbage on the games based on what I had to say.

Yes, I ashamed to say I went 1 for 4 on my predictions. This week however, I vow will be different. I will rely more on facts and less on instinct.

All that means is, even though I hate Atlanta so much, I will pick them to roll over Seattle with ease. Look for a 28-14 victory for the Falcons.

Likewise, even though I hate New England, I will pick them to reign victorious over the Texans by a 35-17 margin.

As for Denver, I have trouble seeing anyone beating Payton Manning who has so much to prove and has done so this year without skipping a beat. Broncos will bid Ray Lewis farewell 32-10.

The only game I see being relatively close is San Fran hosting Green Bay. Yet, how can I take a rookie QB over Rogers- the seasoned vet. I can't. Packers 28-27 over the 49ers.

This week's picks

So I had some trouble yesterday with the internet and couldn't post my football picks.
You'll just have to take my word for it that yesterday's picks were on the up and up.

Vikings vs Packers and Bengals at Texans. I predict Packers will win 24-10 and the Texans will win 19-13. Wow! I can't believe I got those bang on...and neither should you. Actually I did predict the Green Bay victory but I thought it might be a little closer. I thought the Packers would win by 9 points, (30-21) the same amount of yards that A.P. fell short on the record. So that's one for moi.

However, I did predict Cincinatti walking away with a win from Texas to the score of 17- 14 and although it was close, I was on the losing end of that one.

Now, on to today.

Colts 14 at Ravens 10. I believe this will be the most defensive battle of the playoffs, but I think Indy will rely on their Luck and pull this one out...plus I just really hate Baltimore and the big bore.

Seahawks 21 at Redskins 24. My faith for the battle of the rookie QBs falls on the shoulders of RGIII. This is not Seattle where the 12th man resides, this is Washington and that is good for a last minute field goal to ice this one.
